I am an amateur photographer, although many of these images were produced when photography was my profession.

I believe that photographic technique is a language for the elaboration of ideas. Making an image is inherently an act of identification: "THIS is what I find interesting." The first and most important decision a photographer makes is the selection and exclusion of items for his frame. This choice, and all subsequent choices of light, lens-work, perspective, and so on should subordinate themselves to the expression of that idea.

The moment when an element of technique eclipses the content in the eyes of a viewer, that image fails.

This site is a collection of my images whereby I attempt to move closer to the ideal expressed above.
