Hope, Faith, and Photos for a Cure

This is Ashley.

Ashley is an amazing young lady from here in Tennessee, who is battling Ewing’s Sarcoma Stage 4 Cancer. I was contacted not long ago by Carla Lynn, a photographer here in town who was seeking to put on a benefit to raise money and help with Ashley’s treatment. Carla came up with the idea for Hope, Faith, and Photos for a Cure, an event where photographers would donate their time to make family portraits in exchange for donations to help fund Ashley’s treatment. She already had lots of volunteers to man the booths, but she needed someone to document the event. I was thrilled to be there to help out in that role.

The event was held at Marathon Village

Refreshments were on hand for guests and volunteers

The extraordinary Ron Dawson was on hand to provide motion documentation of the event. You can see a sample of his work (and learn more about Ashley) by watching the embedded video below.

My good friend Gregory Byerline helped Ron out with some additional footage

Itira Pillow volunteered her services as a makeup artist.

Many people took advantage of this opportunity to get great portraits of their children!

Tom Uchida volunteered his extensive family portrait experience to help make the event a success.

This little fellow was very photogenic, even when he wasn’t having his portrait made

Even if you missed this wonderful event, you can still help Ashley by donating at any First Tennessee Branch or by mailing to:

Thank you to all of my friends who volunteered, to Carla who organized the event, and most of all to Ashley for inspiring us all to live our lives to the fullest.
